Oliver GoulstoneI am an experienced and well traveled performer based in Carmarthen who is now setting out to achieve my real ambition of directing. I've recently set up my own company called Johnstown Little Theatre and have already presented two challenging pieces in the last year with 'Punk Rock' by Simon Stepehens and '4.48 Psychosis' by Sarah Kane.
I'm a huge supporter and believer in amateur theatre and looking to increase my work experience and knowledge. I also have to state now that I do no accept payment for any amateur work as it is my passion not a money earner.
As a director I have two main aims:
The first is to put the actor first, to make their experience positive and worthwhile. To look at their individual skills to improve where is needed and enhance what is good, I motivate and bring a positive attitude to every rehearsal and want to help anyone in the theatre to just get better and better!
The second is that when I look at a play or musical or any form of theatre I rip the show apart and start again. I want to bring as fresh approach as possible to anything I do, I want people to even watch shows they've seen before and see something different and fresh. I believe sadly we don't see enough original ideas in some amateur circles, and that's not what I want to be identified with. There are no limits to the theatre and vision, anything is possible.
